The WMCE is an entirely mechanical motion, mechanically timed case former. No pneumatics are used in the erecting of the case. Cases are transferred from the magazine with vacuum cups; case opening and all flap folding is done with mechanical cam devices. Case squaring and glue compression is also completed with compression mandrels, mechanical cams, and rotary devices. The all-mechanical system is extremely simple and easy to observe and troubleshoot using the slow motion / jog operation. The operator or mechanic can observe the complete case forming cycle at this slow, full function speed. Case compression mandrels include adjustable case squaring cams to guarantee uniformly square cases. Combined with a clear and intuitive color touchscreen interface, this yields an extremely simple system eliminating the need for extensive operator training.

Standard on the WMCE are polycarbonate guard doors equipped with anti-intrusion switches. Remote emergency and cycle stop stations are located around the machine and the status is displayed on the main operator panel.
